Australian Structural Permeability Map
The Australian Structural Permeability Map is an ARENA funded project based at the University of Adelaide. We aim to provide an open-file platform to host structural permeability data to inform and de-risk future geothermal exploration.
The ARENA Australian Structural Permeability Map Project delivers a national database and map of natural fractures and subsurface permeability in critical Australian basins to better exploit geothermal resources across Australia.
This project is the natural partner to the Australasian Stress Map, also developed and hosted by the University of Adelaide’s S3 research group. By integrating an understanding of both the contemporary stress field and the structural character of the Australian Continent, we can understand the way stress, faults, and fluids interact in the subsurface to provide pathways or barriers to fluid flow.
